About Jason Kittelberger
I was born in Akron, Ohio and after graduating college I moved to Houston, Texas. I’ve been living and working here ever since.
Originally, I worked the old-fashioned way, using B&W film with a medium format Hasselblad camera, doing my own developing and printing in a traditional wet darkroom. In 2011 however, I joined the digital revolution with a smartphone, a digital SLR, and a Facebook account. Unfortunately, the Facebook account is no longer useful.
Primarily I photograph people, although other subjects interest me as well. I tend to like photographs of simple things without a lot of clutter. A very smart person once said simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
I’m not interested in making pretty pictures. I’m interested in subtlety and ambiguity. I want to discover things you can’t easily see. A smile gives everything away.
I’m convinced there are few things in life better in life than a black Lab wagging its tail. My favorite food is French fries and I drink way too much Coke Zero. As Bono would say, it’s even better than the real thing. All that and the third episode of the second season of Succession is the best episode of television ever created. I will die on that hill.
